Yellow Corsage

I am reading a book called The Gospel According to Coco Chanel: Lifes Lessons from the World’s Most Elegant Woman by Karen Karbo. If you get a chance, Karbo is an excellent writer, and I am looking forward to reading her book, Motherhood Made a Man Out of Me. But that is another blog post.

Reading about Chanel inspired me to attach a corsage to some beads.

It was fun to wear this look. However, I have to admit that it is slightly off in the photos.

And oops, I forgot about my green toenail polish.

Jacket from Talbots, top found on Gilt.com, skirt from J. Crew. Beads from a boutique in Sarasota, can’t remember the name… Corsage from Lanvin, sandals from you know who!

Bonjour Madame

Last of the cold weather looks. I wore this recently for a presentation, and I felt a little like my high school French teacher, Madame Woodward. And she was fabulous. Here’s to Madame!

CAbi jacket, Vince dress, Hermes vintage scarf.

Spring-ier

Same necklace as in yesterday’s post. A very different look.

Can’t decide which I like better – with bag or without. You decide.

Discount items include Milly dress and Cynthia Vincent boots. Miu Miu back from the mothership (Neimans). Necklace still from Artswork in Le Claire.

Time Machine

I have some catching up to do on JHS. As you look through the next few days, you’ll think either (1) we went back in time to late winter/early spring or (2) I have moved to Canada;) In fact, these were looks from a couple of weeks ago when the temperature dipped down into the 30′s and 40′s.

See by Chloe cardi from the Outnet, Missoni skirt, clearance booties from Jimmy Choo, necklace from Artswork in Le Claire.

Mixed Metals

It’s time to mix it up. I started with the grey crocheted top I found at a garage sale for and added layers of grey and various textures, from the Nicole Miller skirt to the Zara jacket.

The necklace and belt were on clearance from J. Jill, as well as the Rousseau shoes I found on Gilt.com. In fact, the jacket was the only thing I am wearing that was not on sale, but I think anything from Zara should count as budget friendly:)

Big Print

I threw this on because it was easy. No jacket, no jewelry… Just the dress and belt.

And a fun pair of Jessica Simpson shoes.

Vintage Blue

I have been looking for an excuse to use these vintage blue suitcases. So, today, I have props.

And yes, there are birds on my blouse. You may have also seen it on Cupcakes and Cashmere in a fabulous post about bow tie blouses.

Jeans + Jackets

A friend recently asked me about jackets and jeans. What’s a good mix? I like what Anthropologie’s current line up:

In fact, I think all five would look great with jeans — and mixed up with tailored pieces for work. What do you think?
