Atlantic-Pacific
I have a new favorite blogger, Bee. (You can find her here on Atlantic-Pacific.) In fact, I have compiled a list of things I love about her style:
1. Fearless fun. She is preppy, she likes color, and she isn’t afraid to crash it with edgier trends.
2. Loads of layering. She wears her favorite jewelry. All if it together. At the same time.
3. Color. I love a fashion blogger who loves color.
4. Oversized. The huge CC brooch is fabulous. And the big bags suit her. She plays up the statement pieces.
5. Reinvent-ive. She wears her pieces over and over, revinventing them, instead of trying to create entirely new looks.
Cotton Pinstripe
The Work From Home Wardrobe.
I am guest posting today while Jenny is off on other adventures.
Typically this blog focuses on style for the office but my office happens to be right here at home. Whether you work at home full time or find yourself working from your home office occasionally it brings up a whole new set of challenges. The first challenge is overcoming the desire to stay in your pajamas all day long. Not that I don’t often find myself running around in pajamas but I have found that keeping a few basic pieces on hand help me stay comfortable during the day while looking put together enough to head out of the house for a lunch date or networking event.
1. Basic Cotton Tops.
Cotton is incredibly comfortable and easy to move in which makes it ideal for working from home. You can find tops in different patterns, shapes and styles so you aren’t just wearing t-shirts every day.
2. Jeans.
The trick to finding really great jeans is finding a pair that doesn’t fall too low or sit too high and allows you to move around comfortably. Miracle Body Jeans do all of this and more. They are by far my faveorite brand of jeans.
3. Summer Dresses
The best thing about summer is the wide variety of summer dresses available. Summer dresses are perfect for working at home because they are comfortable and with the addition of a belt and some jewelry you are ready to head out of the house.
4. Cardigans
Adding layers instantly makes any top look just a little bit fancier. I have a special love for cardigans and have cardigans in all shapes and materials. Throw them over a basic top or summer dress to add a little extra something.
5. Statement Necklaces
The best way to dress up a basic top is to throw on a great necklace.
What are your tricks for staying comfortable while looking put together at home?
Yellow Corsage
I am reading a book called The Gospel According to Coco Chanel: Lifes Lessons from the World’s Most Elegant Woman by Karen Karbo. If you get a chance, Karbo is an excellent writer, and I am looking forward to reading her book, Motherhood Made a Man Out of Me. But that is another blog post.
Reading about Chanel inspired me to attach a corsage to some beads.
It was fun to wear this look. However, I have to admit that it is slightly off in the photos.
And oops, I forgot about my green toenail polish.
Jacket from Talbots, top found on Gilt.com, skirt from J. Crew. Beads from a boutique in Sarasota, can’t remember the name… Corsage from Lanvin, sandals from you know who!
Time Machine
I have some catching up to do on JHS. As you look through the next few days, you’ll think either (1) we went back in time to late winter/early spring or (2) I have moved to Canada;) In fact, these were looks from a couple of weeks ago when the temperature dipped down into the 30′s and 40′s.
See by Chloe cardi from the Outnet, Missoni skirt, clearance booties from Jimmy Choo, necklace from Artswork in Le Claire.
Vintage Blue
I have been looking for an excuse to use these vintage blue suitcases. So, today, I have props.

And yes, there are birds on my blouse. You may have also seen it on Cupcakes and Cashmere in a fabulous post about bow tie blouses.
