These showed up on our doorstep. And my husband gave me that look.
Too bad… I am already in love.

How about this Stella McCartney bathing suit?
Or a heart shaped purse and these wittle gold Prada sandals from Neimans?
Or a Bamboletta dolly?
1. Trench coat – this will get you through most of the chilly season without needing a wool coat, and if you get a swing style, you might be able to wear it post preggo
2. Jeans – you need to decide if you want the current popular “jeggings” style or the always flattering bootcut
3. Jacket – at least one blazer that will take you from boardroom to dinner
4. Cardigan* – something tailored you can wear on the weekend or to work
5. Black pants – preferably in a crepe fabric so they won’t need a lot of care, and bonus points if you get a little stretch in them
6. Knit top* – okay, you probably need a couple of these
7. Black skirt – this is easy to pull on and off, easy to mix and match
8. Leggings – you will live in these on the weekend
9. Dress* – choose a black wrap if you want the most bang for your buck, but you may want another in a fun print or stripe
10. Accessories* – if you keep your basic pieces neutral, here you can really shine by choosing things you love that you can keep post-baby
*These items don’t have to be maternity – in fact have fun by looking for non-maternity clothes that will work with your changing belly

I can’t stop myself from raving about Itsy Bitsy Yoga, and I haven’t even tried it yet. It’s just that stinkin’ cute. First, the DVD, Mamacise Post-Natal Yoga is a fantastic concept. Workout with your baby, along with calm and cuddle exercises…? I can’t think of a better activity after a stressful day of lawsuits. Itsy Bitsy Yoga even gets an endorsement from Dr. Karp, author of Happiest Baby on the Block. And let’s face it, JHS is all about fashion, and these organic cotton baby yoga rompers are super fresh.

These would make creative shower gifts for your fit mamas!

Made of recycled water bottles, the Fleurville Hana Diaper Bag is cute, functional and reasonably priced at $89.00. Once I got to see it in person, I was even more impressed. Like Goldilocks, moms are always looking for a bag that isn’t “too” big or “too” small. This one is just right. The only downside might be the limited colors, such as orange and brown with pink stitching. I would love this bag to come in red. But if you are looking for a fun color, orange will do in a pinch.

I love this flower rattle by Haba. And for your older tots, Haba’s building blocks are amazing.
I love all things made by Haba. They cost more, but they are so stylish and beautiful, German quality and design, they really blow away some of the cheap China crap you find at Walmart and Babies R Us. I have a 6 month-old who is sticking everything in her mouth that comes within a two foot radius, so I feel good knowing the toys have passed much more rigorous European consumer product standards. And they make unique shower gifts!

PADilly, who carries lots of Haba products is offering $5 off any order of $50 or more – use coupon code: Flipflops. You can also find a fairly good selection at Amazon.com.
It’s Spring Showers here in the Midwest and time to talk “Trench”. The Trench is on my must-have list for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, pregnant or not. It looks great for work, it looks fabulous on the weekend, and the classic tan color goes with everything. There is not a classier, sexier, more practical, better traveling coat.
So, when I saw the Isabella Oliver trapeze trench, I knew I would get serious miles out of it. The fun swing style is perfect for maternity and still looks great post-baby. It is fully lined, with a nice sheen and high quality fabric. If you are looking for style on a budget, then try a similar trench by Liz Lange for Target (on sale for $27.99!).
Oh, definitely not preggers? Then, try the trench by Diane von Furstenberg. It’s spendy, but you only gotta get one great Trench.
Dressing post-baby can be tough. Your body is different and clothes don’t fit the way they used to fit. That time between delivery and back to “normal” is uncomfortable and can bring you down. Luckily, designers are realizing this and creating products just for moms.
I have mentioned before my love for Spanx. Spanx makes post-baby fashion less scary and more comfortable.
I was ecstatic this weekend when I opened up my weekend issue of Daily Candy to find! Spanx Shaping Swimwear. I have been a little nervous about the upcoming summer season…
Spanx Shaping Swimwear might just help me feel a little more confident as I am hanging by the pool on those hot summer days.
Because…mom’s DO hang by the pool side all summer…right?
Not only does Spanx Shaping Swimwear hold you in but it is sexy. They have so many different styles and looks. You are bound to feel good this summer!
I spent hours packing for the hospital and organizing gear, and my husband practically had to hire a sherpa to get all of our bags into the birthing room. Part of my packing problem is I couldn’t make up my mind what to wear in the hospital. So, to save you the time (and space), here are some recommendations for laboring in style.
First, consider active or technical wear for early labor. Choose tops and bottoms that are stretchy lycra, moisture wicking and soft fabrics. Alternatively, you might consider dedicated “birthwear”, designed for your comfort and accommodates medical equipment. BINSI offers a skirt and tops that I strongly considered, but alas, they were out of stock when L-day closed in.
And there is the hospital gown, although now they come in cute prints. Check out Gownies at www.busymommi.com. Especially if you are going to have someone document your labor, I highly recommend it.
Also, be prepared that you may not care towards the end what you are wearing. So plan ahead and communicate it to your significant other so they can help you deliver – in style!
Maternity Spanx. Get them. On ebay. At Nordstrom.com. At your local maternity boutique.
As I get bigger, they actually help support the belly. I hesitated because of the price and just tried one pair. I want to wear them everyday, and now that it is cooling down, I think I will.
