Announcing Anthropologie’s Sister Line
Fun
Luxurious
Gorgeous!
I live in the midwest, and it’s been freakishly cold here. And the long winter has me on the hunt for the perfect black legging. One that will suck all of the post-preggers (and late night comfort-eating) fat right in and give me those dreamy Jennifer Anniston gams.
After reading the great reviews on the website, I splurged on a pair of Sassbax long black leggings.
Indeed, they do lift the booty! So much so, it is almost unnatural, but under a pair of pants, it’s a nice effect. The downfall, though, is that (1) they are ribbed, which attracts too much lint, and (2), they don’t do much for thighs or belly, and that’s where I need the help. And for $68, they should all three of those things and drive me to work.
I still like my Spanx Higher Power tights ($38) more.
You won’t want to invest in clothes after the maternity spree and until you get back to your fighting weight, so start way during your pregnancy and invest in accessories like a bold cuff bracelet from Kendra Scott.
Big chunky pieces with eye catching jewel tones are a perfect fix for the winter blahs, not to mention a distraction from a closet full of clothes that still don’t fit quite right.
I was the type of preggers who prided myself on fantastically healthy pregnancy.
I fanatically swam, ellipticised, and followed a strength training video by a Cirquede Soleil contortionist up until weeks before I gave birth for gosh darn sakes.
So I remember being mottled when I left the hospital with baby AND still an extra twenty pounds in tow.
The one accessory that has allowed me to leave the house is a beautiful plum colored pashmina style scarf from Nordstrom. I’ve worn it loose and long over black sweaters to cover the bulge, as a neck warmers with my coat, as a wrap to dress up for night, top give me an extra layer on the plane, and a nursing/ pumping cape.
If you go out, hang a long scarf (preferably cashmere!) around your neck. A little luxury, infinitely justifiable!
Nursing as I write (at four a.m.), and I’ve decided that nursing tops are the new black.
I am living in black nursing tanks from Target Gillian Mallory ($16.99) for two reasons: hide post baby bloat, not top mention spilled milk, and they are too darn easy to mix and match with colorful cardigans or jackets.
I don’t go on a clothing strike often, but I think my current situation demands it.
My new mommy chest and middle are still swollen, throwing off my sizing, so tops, dresses, and even the new “curvy” CJ Cookie Johnson jeans that one of my clients is raving about don’t fit… What does a stylish girl do but focus on accessories.
My feet haven’t changed, and jewelry always works, so it’s time to take advantage of the sales and snag some deals.
Then, I can change up my current hybrid of maternity and larger pre-pregnancy clothes until I am back to normal.
Whatever that is going to be.
