Good Fashion Friday: 10 Tips for Spring Transition

1 Hellloooo! Time to break out the trench!

2 It’s also time to put away wool or any other heavy knits or fabrics.

3 Shop your closet and “lighten up” what you already have with white, cream, and light neutrals.

4 Accent with bright colors, like hot pink, yellow, and grass green.

5 Peep toes!

6 Stripes = spring. And/or anything nautical.

7 Floral prints, like this DVF dress at Neimans, or for a steal, try Liberty of London at Target.

8 While you’re at Target, try on sunnies with updated frame shapes.

9 Don the perfect crisp white shirt with jeans and flats for instant weekend mommy style.

10 Splurge on a french manicure.

Office Mommy: Outfit of the Day

At the risk of looking like an American Airline Stewardess, Circa 1972, here it is.

Royal blue CAbi jacket, navy Isabella Oliver Maternity Skirt (seriously), navy tights, navy patent Nine West heels, vintage belt from Brook&Lyn (thanks, Mimi!), vintage Gucci tote from local consignment store.

And… I discovered after I got dressed that my cami is on inside out (which I blame the engineers I work with for scheduling a 7AM conference call).

Makeup Monday: Full Face in 180 Seconds

I am a working mom, and concealer is not an option for me.  Neither is a little lipstick, mascara, brow gel, and so on, but there have been quite a few mornings lately that I am sprinting to my office au naturale.  Baby or no baby, this is unacceptable.  So, I have developed a morning makeup routine that takes 180 seconds start to finish.  Try it:

30 secs –  As soon as your moisturizer has set, while you are still at your sink, smooth on Jane Iredale Dream Tint, in SPF 15.

20 secs – Dab on Lorac Double Feature Paraben-Free Concealer/Highlighter.  If you are in a rush, skip the highlighter, but if I you another 20 secs to spare, swipe it on the top of your cheekbones, above your brows, down the bridge of your nose and the top of your chin and blend.

30 secs – Try a light-attracting shadow on your eyelid and under your brow, like Chanel in Liberty.  To save time, skip the next step, but if you want a nice crease shade that has just enough color to provide contrast but is light enough to be mistake proof, try Chanel in Sand.  Simply dust it on the outer corner of your crease and blend.  The perfect double-duty brush for this task is Laura Mercier’s Angled Eye Colour Brush.  Use the pointy tip for the crease and blend with the flat face.

20 secs – Fastest eyeliner in the west?  Lorac Front of the Line PRO Liquid Eyeliner gives you a clean, precise line — and it’s waterproof.

30 secs – Dust a sheer bronzer, like Guerlain Terracotta in 00 or 01, just underneath your cheekbones and jawline.

20 secs – I love the new Coco Rouge lipstick by Chanel.  It is saturated with color, but the creamy texture allows quick application.  Satin is a flattering color, which I would say is beyond nude, and it has good staying-power.  If you want a similar color in a long-lasting formula, try Cover Girl ColorStay Overtime Lip Color in Bare Maximum.

30 secs – IMHO, great brows are a must for work.  For fast service, I like the control of Anastasia’s Brow Definer, which is a light brown pencil on one end and a gel to fix your brows on the other.

So, that’s it.  Nine products, seven steps, 180 seconds.
